The AI-Agent Insurance Carrier

Spring 2026ActiveFintechInsuranceSan Francisco, CA, USA
TLDR: Mount is building the AI-Agent insurance carrier, starting with liability coverage for deployed AI agents. As everyone moves AI Agents into production and gives them more responsibility, we help businesses insure and secure them. Whenever responsibility shifts from human operators to autonomous systems, so too does the liability that accompanies it. The systems also introduce new risks: agentic software failures, prompt injection attacks, autonomous workflow errors, data leaks, and more. Legacy insurance was not built for this. Existing policies are often silent, ambiguous, or exclude autonomous software, and traditional insurers lack the data and technical capability to assess deployed AI Systems. Our first product, the Mount AI Liability Policy, is built for mid-market and enterprise companies deploying autonomous AI agents in real business processes. We scan and red-team AI deployments, quantify operational risk, help fix vulnerabilities, and insure the residual risk with purpose-built AI liability coverage. Mount is best thought of as a highly automated version of today's commercial insurance carriers, which run on manual workflows, layers of intermediaries, and tens of thousands of employees. AI enables automation of underwriting, pricing, policy issuance, claims, fraud detection, customer support, and distribution. We believe that the best way to use this opportunity is to rebuild those processes from the ground up.

Verdict

High Signal
Market Opportunity
AI agent liability is a genuinely emerging and underserved market — every enterprise deploying autonomous agents faces real legal and operational risk exposure that legacy policies don't cover. Mid-market and enterprise ICP is clear, and commercial insurance is a massive TAM ($800B+ globally). The timing is early but the regulatory and liability environment is moving fast, creating urgency.
Medium Signal
Founder Signal
Fabian has an ETH Zürich CS background with ML focus and real technical experience deploying CNNs at MESH robotics spin-off, plus 3.5 years running his own web dev company starting at 16 — real builder signals. John founded Horizonn at 18, an AI media company generating 400K CHF annual revenue in Switzerland — small but a real exit-adjacent signal. However, neither has insurance industry experience, and the insurance/insuretech domain is heavily regulated and relationship-dependent. No LinkedIn data to verify details independently.
Medium Signal
Competition
No competitor data surfaced in research, but incumbents like AIG, Chubb, and Beazley all offer tech E&O and cyber policies that could expand to cover AI agents. Insuretech players like Coalition (cyber) could also pivot. The novel angle is purpose-built AI-specific underwriting with technical red-teaming, which legacy carriers genuinely lack — but the moat depends on proprietary risk data that doesn't yet exist at scale.
Low Signal
Product
No named customers, no pricing page, no live demo, no revenue metrics, no testimonials visible. Product description is conceptually coherent (AI liability scanning + red-teaming + insurance coverage) but nothing in the data confirms any paying customers or even a waitlist. No press coverage found.
OverallB Tier

Mount is targeting a real and timely problem — the liability vacuum around deployed AI agents — with a technically coherent approach that combines risk scanning, red-teaming, and purpose-built insurance coverage. The market timing is strong and the ICP is clear. However, the founders have zero insurance industry experience, which is a serious gap in a heavily regulated, relationship-driven domain where carrier licensing, reinsurance relationships, and regulatory compliance are massive moats and barriers. No traction evidence whatsoever — no customers, no revenue, no press — makes this purely thesis-stage. If they can hire or partner with a seasoned insurance operator and demonstrate even one paying enterprise customer, the story changes materially.
